How to change your iPhone location without a jailbreak

Updated 2026-10-10

Jailbreaking used to be the only way to fake your iPhone's location. It isn't anymore. Apple ships a location tool for app makers, and Pinshift uses it, so your iPhone stays exactly as it is.

How it works

App makers need to test how their apps behave in other places, so iOS lets a connected computer tell the iPhone where it is. That tool is part of Developer Mode, a switch Apple built into every iPhone. Pinshift turns that tool into a simple map: pick a place, and your iPhone reports it to every app.

Is it safe for my iPhone?

Yes. Nothing is installed into iOS and no system files change. Developer Mode is an official Apple setting, and you can switch it off again in Settings. Software updates keep working normally.

Will apps know?

Apps see the new location the same way they see a real one. Some games and apps don't allow changed locations in their rules, and using one there can get your account limited. Follow the rules of the apps you use.

Going back

Press Reset in Pinshift or restart your iPhone, and it goes straight back to its real location. You can also set a timer so it returns by itself.
